Kellen Choi, M.D.
Dr. Kellen K. Choi is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine, including arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee and other joints.
His treatment philosophy is to provide compassionate, individualized care to meet a patient’s specific goals and lifestyle. Whether a professional level athlete, weekend warrior, injured laborer or active senior, patients are evaluated and treated with the goal of returning them to normal function through non-operative and, when necessary, surgical management. Through the use of innovative, minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Choi performs arthroscopic repairs of complex rotator cuff tears, labral tears, ACL ruptures and meniscal injuries. He also provides experienced general orthopaedic care including joint reconstruction, fracture management and non-operative treatment of the spine.
Dr. Choi received his medical degree and orthopaedic residency training from Northwestern University. He joined SportMed-Wheaton Orthopedaedics in 2003 after completing a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at New England’s Baptist Hospital. During his training, he was an assistant team physician for the Boston Celtics and associate clinical instructor for Tufts University Medical School.
He currently serves jointly with Dr.Erickson as team physician of the Naperville North and Naperville Central High Schools. Dr.Choi continues his medical education through active membership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Academy Society for Sports Medicine. He also holds a Certificate in Evaluating Disability and Impairment Rating through the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians. In his leisure time, D.Choi enjoys spending quality time with his wife and chasing his four young children.
